I’ve always photographed to make sense of the world around me. For years, I was chasing the work of photographers I admired — until I realised I was either repeating the same image or copying someone else’s vision.
A personal and professional crisis became a turning point: I enrolled in a 2½-year photography program at the Fotoakademie Köln, graduating in 2020 with a new voice and a clear sense of purpose. I also hold an M.Sc. in Electrical Engineering from the Università degli Studi di Napoli Federico II — a background that has shaped my approach to photography, balancing precision with spontaneity.
I’m Bruno Trematore — a photographer and engineer based in Düsseldorf. My work spans genres, but always carries my own signature: bold colours, playful juxtapositions, and layered urban narratives. I’m drawn to the small, strange collisions of life that reveal humour, beauty, or humanity in the streets.
The pandemic years made it challenging to establish myself, but I chose to keep creating — both in the artistic field and in commercial work. That persistence has led to exhibitions across Europe, international publications, and recognition such as the Bronze Medal in the German Photobook Award for my book Jigsaw Falling into Place.
If you’re looking for a unique piece of art to hang on your wall, a portrait that captures personality, or a visual record of your story, I’d be happy to talk.
