South African mezzo-soprano, Summer Carne, is the founder of A Taste of Opera. She is known for her powerful voice and innovative philosophy of sound and taste, Summer has developed a novel concept pairing the wine with live opera arias. This fascinating philosophy is captivating audiences in Berlin and is continues to grow in South Africa during her frequent visits.

Summer is a graduate of Stellenbosch University (Bachelor of Music, 2020) and Trinity College Dublin (Master’s in Philosophy, 2023). She furthermore holds a WSET II certification in wine (2024), combining her love of music with a deep understanding of wine.

With a creative career as both a performer and director, Summer has starred in multiple operas and directed many original shows. Now based in Berlin, she continues to refine her craft under the hand of Ekaterina Bazhonova.

She has graced the stages of Artscape Opera House, Cape Town City Hall, The Endler Concert Hall, and Stardust Theatrical Dining as well as prestigious engagements for the South African Embassy and the Federal Foreign Ministry in Berlin. Whether performing in grand concert halls or intimate settings, her voice leaves a lasting impression.
