Chris Cabrim

In the artist's words:

Chris Cabrim lives and works in Cologne-Ehrenfeld. In his group of works Other Worlds - Inner Universe in Suspension he develops abstract works between painting, object and print. His practice is material-based: Pigment, layering, deposition, abrasion and edge formation become carriers of states, not illustrations of motifs. The Other Worlds group of works currently includes the eight series Stellar Grounds, Galaxies, Aurora, Fragments, Primal Bodies, Imprints, Cosmic Events and Obscure Relics.

The series each follow their own logic. In Stellar Grounds, the works can be read as inner topographies in color: Pigment and ink are deposited, run, mix and condense into new relationships. This creates zones of calm and tension, depth and transition. What appears closed from a distance opens up close up as a surface with microstructures, edges and densities.
