Die Affirmative

In the artist's words:

The Affirmative is a professional improvisational theater ensemble from Mainz and Frankfurt. We perform regularly in Mainz, Frankfurt, Wiesbaden and the Rhine-Main region. Our main venues in Mainz are the Unterhaus, the KUZ, the Frankfurter Hof and the Schloss. In Frankfurt, we perform at the Volksbühne, the Käs and in 2026 also at the Kellertheater.

Since 2023, we have moved into our new premises in Mainz, 5 minutes from the main train station, where we also occasionally perform and, above all, stage shows. Since January 2024 we have also been teaching improv theater in Frankfurt, in the Netzwerk Seilerei and since 2025 we also have our own central rooms in Frankfurt in Bockenheim, 1 minute from Frankfurt West S-Bahn station. We run the largest improv school in Germany with over 300 active students, 29 weekly courses and regular workshops - right in the heart of Mainz and Frankfurt. We regularly bring international comedy and improv stars to us for workshops and shows.

We compete for the audience's favor in German and international improv theater competitions (Cologne, Düsseldorf, Würzburg, Hamburg, The Hague). It's not unusual for us to bring the winner's crown back to Mainz in our hand luggage. We give workshops at improv festivals and perform our own improv formats. Last year, for example, we performed in Zurich, Bremen, Brest, Munich, Dublin and Tampere (Finland).

We love to bring the principles of improvisation into the working world. Whether in customized shows and presentations or in training sessions. Our focus is on spontaneity, quick-wittedness and a confident, authentic appearance - but always with a lot of lightness and laughter. Our enthusiastic clients include Boehringer Ingelheim, the Rhineland-Palatinate state parliament, the DFB, Bayer, Lindt, Deutsche Bank and many more.

In addition to our full-time work as actors and theater educators, we are also committed to Mainz, Frankfurt and the region - with charity performances and free courses for young people and children. We have been running the Improfestival Mainz e.V. since 2012. We are also the main initiators of Improvisationstheater Mainz e.V., a non-profit organization that supports youth and theater work in Mainz.

Every 3rd Sunday of the month, we also offer improv theater to try out at the Sunday Session - free of charge and without registration.
