For me, going out for breakfast or brunch means one thing above all: the weekend and well-deserved relaxation. Anyone who says to me, "I can make that at home", and preferably follows it up with "it would be cheaper" or "there's more sucuk in it", is radically crossed off my list of friends. Because of course you can also conjure up a delicious breakfast at home, but the concept of "going out for breakfast" is much more complex. And I am 100% behind it. If you know, you know 😎 I love choosing a cute café in Düsseldorf after a stressful week to sit at the table with my loved ones for hours and chat about God and the world. I would almost count it as one of my hobbies. The criteria are clear: good coffee, a cozy atmosphere, hearty sandwiches, delicious apple pancakes or fancy French toast. And even though it was very difficult for me, I've put together my favorite spots for you. 🤝

RestaurantBistro Zicke
Experience the unique flair of the Zicke, a charming bistro in the middle of the beautiful old town. Here you will find a varied selection of freshly prepared dishes from different national cuisines, as well as a carefully compiled wine list. The cozy and informal atmosphere has made this bistro a real cult classic. We love having breakfast here! Whether in the rustic interior or on the summer terrace.
Nooij Dutch Deli
Brioche with avocado and salmon, blueberry pannekoeken or delicious yoghurt. Nooij is guaranteed to have something for everyone! The Dutch deli is located in an old streetcar factory building right next to the Tanzhaus NRW and not only impresses with its urban style and cozy atmosphere, but also with its diverse selection of dishes. An absolute tip if you fancy something special. 🥰
Frida
If you fancy leaving everyday life behind you and indulging in delicious food, then we have the perfect tip for you: Head to Frida Tapasbar in Unterbilk, which offers sumptuous dishes at any time of day - whether it's breakfast, lunch or an evening get-together in a relaxed atmosphere. The menu offers a colorful variety of Spanish and Mediterranean cuisine. You can relax surrounded by Frida Khalo portraits, Madonna figures and Spanish drinks. Here you can meet neighbors, friends and family from all over Düsseldorf. In summer, there is also a small terrace in front of the restaurant. There you go!

Not in the mood for all that fancy nonsense? Then Café Knülle is the place for you. Here you can have breakfast the way it should be: without a lot of fuss, just delicious. Choose between the classics "French Breakfast", "New York Breakfast" and "Breakfast for 2". Or opt for a vegan or vegetarian option. There are also bagels, smoothies and sandwiches. The place is incredibly cozy, both inside and on the terrace. So you should definitely put it on your list!
Weird Space
If you're not impressed by the worker bees in the workspace at the back or maybe you even need to work on your laptop yourself, then pop into Weird Space. The café is known for its great coffee and unique interior, but you can also find a few treats for a breakfast snack here. How about granola, a smashed cucumber sandwich, a savory waffle or a cardamom bun? The Weird Space is now also available at 3 locations in Düsseldorf!

Düsseldorf is located directly between Cologne and the Ruhr area, which means that there are conurbations and many connections from every direction. Düsseldorf is therefore very well connected and easy to reach from many places, and the trains leave very early. We recommend that you use public transport, as Düsseldorf is not exactly known as the most pleasant city to drive in. You can also do something good for the environment and maybe even get started with a few mimosas. 🥂
