In the panel "Solidarities and Alliances in Times of Crisis", experts with biographical connections to Israel and Palestine will discuss anti-Semitism, racism and the challenges of dialogue work in polarized times. They will shed light on the past and present of interreligious and intercultural alliances and ask how empathy and solidarity can be strengthened despite crises.

Vicky Lessing is a freelance political illustrator and mediator. She is currently studying anti-Semitism research in Berlin, where she works for BildungsBausteinen, Gesellschaft im Wandel and the Anne Frank Educational Center in Frankfurt am Main, among others. She works on the intertwined history and present of anti-Semitism and racism and on strategies for remaining in conversation with one another.

Zakariyya Meißner is German-Palestinian, studied Islamic Studies in Freiburg and has many years of experience in the prevention of Islamist and right-wing extremist radicalization. Today, he is primarily concerned with anti-Palestinian racism and campaigns for equal recognition of Palestinian life and support for people with Palestinian family biographies. Germany's commitment to universal human rights is central to his work.

Ilham Bani Odeh is a political scientist and works at the intersection of political education, transformative peace work and intersectional critique of power. She designs and facilitates spaces for collective learning, understanding and solidarity-based action in socially and geopolitically conflict-ridden contexts. Her focus is on the question of how solidarity as a political practice can bring about structural change. She sees education as a space for reflection, responsibility and social transformation.

Mati Shemoelof is a writer, poet and curator. He was born in Haifa/Israel and now lives in Berlin. His work includes fiction, poetry, plays, essays and more. His first German publication "Bagdad I Haifa I Berlin" (Aphorisma) appeared in 2019, followed by "Das kleine Boot in meiner Hand nenn ich Narbe" (Parasitenpresse) in 2023. In Berlin, he founded "Poetic Hafla" and the collective "Anu אנו نحن", and also publishes the magazine "Bridges جْسُور - גשרים".
