A guided tour through 100 years of Heidelberg festival history with theatrical highlights
Heidelberg Castle Festival
Meeting point: in front of the Ruprechtsbau
The Castle Festival is 100 years old. This is an occasion to celebrate! Members of the ensemble from all sections will take you on a journey through time and to places in Heidelberg Castle that cannot be seen during the regular castle performances.
On this tour, the castle guides will introduce you to the history of the Heidelberg Castle Festival, flanked by various artistic contributions from music theater, drama and dance. For example, "The Student Prince" can be heard alongside danced instrumental sounds by Ernst Krenek, as well as texts ranging from "A Midsummer Night's Dream" to political incendiary letters from the 1930s. The tour ends after approx. 50 minutes in the exhibition in the Ottheinrichsbau, where you have the opportunity to delve even deeper into the history.
Please arrive in good time at the signposted meeting point in the entrance area of the palace courtyard.
Due to the structural conditions of Heidelberg Castle, the tour is unfortunately not barrier-free and involves climbing stairs.
Information about the exhibition can be found here.
