Style exercises on the way to your own visual language - 5 days of educational time in Bremen

Portraits are only for people who can draw well? No way! Beyond the perfectly photorealistic idea, we will explore a wide variety of ways to depict faces: drawing, painting, collaging, cutting and experimenting. The focus is on working with uncomplicated techniques. We look at pictures by other artists and illustrators and find out what makes the picture special, what means are used to achieve what effect, and then implement the knowledge gained directly in our own experiments. The result will be a long series of stylistically very different portraits - of one or several people, self-portraits or people from private or public life.

Please bring along: Photos / copies of people, a small mirror and materials available at home such as: Watercolor pencils, felt-tip pens, wax crayons, oil pastels, watercolor / watercolor, acrylic paint, ink, various black pens, collected papers for collages and silhouettes, stamps, potato printing, scissors, scalpels, motif punches, etc.
