Tilda and her little sister Ida are a well-rehearsed team when it comes to coping with everyday life. They have to, because their mother is an alcoholic, their fathers are absent and Tilda's friends have all long since left for the big wide world. Between university, a job at the supermarket checkout and the saddest house in Fröhlichstraße, Tilda's only escape from her dreary life in the small town is her daily 22 laps in the outdoor pool. But then the option arises for her to take up a doctoral position in Berlin. But who will look after Ida then? The appearance of the irritatingly handsome Viktor, who, like Tilda, is a math nerd and swims laps in the outdoor pool every day, makes everything even more complicated.
22 Bahnen is author Caroline Wahl's debut novel and a touching story about the longing for love and security.
