25th International Short Film Festival "Bunter Hund"
from March 19 to 22, 2026 at the Werkstattkino in Munich

It's that time again and the short film is being celebrated:

The International Short Film Festival "Bunter Hund" is taking place for the 25th time this year at the Werkstattkino in Munich. From March 19 to 22, 2026, 61 current short films from Germany and other European and non-European countries, including India, China, Iran, Canada, Italy, Mexico, Spain, Russia, Paraguay, Armenia, South Korea and many more, will be screened at the legendary venue in Fraunhofer Strasse 9.

33 of these great short films will be shown in 4 interesting and varied competition programs - in which the audience votes and decides which film wins the "Hasso" in the end.

In addition, there will be 11 special short film treats in the "Trash & Strange" program - Saturday, 21.03.2026, 10 pm + Sunday, 22.03.2026, 5 pm - and on the occasion of the 25th anniversary of our short film festival, 2 special programs with 17 winning films from the last 25 years: "Bunt ist keine Farbe", Saturday, 21.03.2026, 4 pm, and "Vom Festkleben und Ablösen", Sunday, 22.03.2026, 3 pm.

Each of the four competition programs - "Heimat", "Helden wie wir", "Anders & "Artig" and "Liebe und andere Grausamkeiten" - features a colourful mix of funny, exciting, political, sophisticated, absurd and thought-provoking feature films, animated films, experimental films and documentaries. Viewers will cast their votes in all competition screenings, and the best-rated films will reach the final "The Prize is Hot" on Sunday, 22.03.2026, at 7 pm. At this screening, the audience will vote for the winning film, which will be awarded the "Hasso" audience prize worth €500.

All screenings - preliminary round and final - will take place at Werkstattkino, Fraunhoferstraße 9 in Munich.

Tickets are only available at the Box Office in the Werkstattkino at Fraunhoferstraße 9. The box office opens 30 minutes before the start of each event. A ticket costs €6.
