When Abi Wallenstein and Steve Baker decided to organize a joint event with changing special guests under the motto "Blues Celebration" at the Hamburger Fabrik in 1993, they had no idea that they were laying the foundations for a success story that continues to this day and stands for good vibes and excellent music. The evening is traditionally rounded off with a closing session by all the musicians.

For the 31st Blues Celebration, we will be welcoming two special guests who will provide a very special highlight: The renowned Danish artist Mike Andersen and the Hamburg blues & roots rock sensation WellBad.

THE ARTISTS
ABI WALLENSTEIN is something of a fixed star in the European blues firmament. For over 50 years he has been winning the hearts of blues fans with his warm-hearted charisma and has already achieved cult-like fame. His unique fingerpicking style is a fascinating mixture of delta blues and rock elements. Powerful, rhythmic and full of enthusiasm. At his side is the British harmonica maestro STEVE BAKER. With his unique sound, which draws on the blues tradition and combines elements of country, folk, rock and jazz, he creates an exciting and individual fusion that is funky, melodic and elegant. MARTIN RÖTTGER also contributes rhythmic cohesion and the odd highly acclaimed solo excursion with his sophisticated grooves. He knows how to support Wallenstein's idiosyncratic grooves like no other.

MIKE ANDERSEN, with his multi-faceted blend of blues, songwriter soul and rock, is known for his authentic sound, powerful vocals and, above all, his personal and expressive guitar playing. Although his music is influenced by the blues, he has always gone his own way and created a musical universe that is timeless rather than nostalgic. Andersen has already released ten albums and received the Danish Music Award in 2019.

WELLBAD's sound is wonderfully dirty and explosive. Whether supporting "The Boss Hoss" or at the Montreal Jazz Festival: "They offer a brilliant live show, always on the verge of madness, carried by Daniel Welbat's sonorous voice, which oscillates uninhibitedly between smoky jazz pub and electrifying rock concert. The band moves in the sound of days gone by and transforms it into a captivating new style: soulful primal gospel, dirty retro R'n'B and creaky country rock elements.
