From the Art&Culture at Grapple & Strike series: Reading + DJ set with the musician Gu

On November 15 at 7 pm, Gu will read from his book "375 Sätze für jede Gelegenheit" (Fuego) and present texts and musings from his musical work. Gu normally performs as a DJ and musician, but time and again he takes to the stage to read aloud, illuminating and commenting on current and past events. His performances are always a mixture of reading, slam poetry and cabaret program, whereby the respective focus often develops spontaneously in the course of the event. Of course, the framework is always his book, in which word and thought games, thought straight ahead and around the corner, are divided into different categories and provide unsolicited life help and food for thought.

After the reading, we move to Cafe Neusi's. It's more cozy there and we celebrate the evening with a DJ set from Gu!

About Gu:
Gu is a DJ, musician, label owner, author and producer from northern Germany. His dedication to music began in the late eighties. Over the years he has collaborated with a number of his favorite DJs and artists such as Keb Darge, Andy Smith, Snowboy, The New Mastersounds, Osaka Monaurail, The Allergies, Andy Cooper of Ugly Duckling and Chuck D of Public Enemy to name a few. His DJ career has taken him all over Europe. In 2005 he founded Our Label Records with his brother Tom to release new funk music on 7 inch vinyl and in 2015 the Hip Hop 45 imprint Origu was added. Since 2009, he has been on air every week with his radio show Home Diggin', which was also picked up by Chuck D's Rapstation in 2019. His compilations "This Is DJs Choice Vol. 4" and "Our Label Records Vol. 1" were released in 2024 via Unique Records. Most recently, he toured with Thomas D, Flo Mega & The KBCS, on whose "Mega D" album he worked as a lyricist and rapper.
His solo album "Gravitas & Unvernunft" will be released in early 2026.
