4000 Tage

In the organizer's words:

Romantic, not serious and with a lot of dry humor

Michael has been in a coma for three weeks. His embittered mother Carol and his partner Paul watch over him at his bedside. Carol and Paul are united by their concern for Michael's health, but no less united by their abysmal mutual dislike. When Michael finally wakes up, it turns out that eleven years of his memory are gone. These are the eleven years he has lived with Paul - 4000 days ...

With polished and clever dialog, from now on it's all about the interpretation of this lost time. While Paul moves heaven and hell to remind Michael of the years he spent with him, Carol tries to take advantage of the fact that Michael has forgotten his life partner Paul and the 4,000 days he spent with him. She sees this as her chance to simply outmaneuver Paul.

Quilter doesn't take all this seriously, but in a way that shines with skillful dialogue and plenty of dry humour. "4000 DAYS" is a romantic comedy that entertains and touches in equal measure.

The play also raises interesting questions: what does it mean to live in the present without the experiences of the past - both personal and socio-political? How important are memories anyway? What do we remember and why?
