From November 21 to December 22, 2025, the romantic old town of Trier will once again be transformed into a sparkling winter wonderland: The 45th Trier Christmas Market opens its doors and captivates visitors from all over the world.

The market was named "Best Christmas Market in Germany" by the renowned travel platform European Best Destinations in 2024 - an award that underlines its special atmosphere and high quality.

A Christmas wonderland against a historic backdrop

Between the medieval main market and the imposing Trier Cathedral, an atmospheric ambience unfolds with lovingly decorated stalls, handcrafted Christmas decorations and regional specialties. A special feature: Trier is home to Germany's only mulled wine queen - ambassador of the popular "Winzerglühwein" from the Moselle vineyards.

An experience for the whole family

The German Christmas Academy invites young and old to sing along to traditional Christmas carols with the well-known tenors Thomas Kiessling and Thomas Siessegger. The Rhineland puppet theater is very popular, delighting young and old alike with magical stories. New this year: the first Trier Christmas fairy tale as a participatory storytelling theater on the stage at the Domfreihof.

Experience tours with professional city guides bring history to life - visitors not only learn about the market's locations, but also immerse themselves in the eventful past of the main market and Germany's oldest episcopal church.

The Trier artist Roland Grundheber, who designs unique tree decorations with children, provides creative moments.

Musical highlight at the opening

On Monday, November 24, at 5:00 pm, the Trier Christmas market will be officially opened - accompanied by the popular Trier dialect band "Leiendecker Bloas" on the stage at Domfreihof.
