90 Jahre Peterknecht - Oliver Kalkofe: Nie war Früher schöner als Jetzt

A boomer looks back to the future | Boomer boy Oliver Kalkofe on the trail of his time.

Is that really true? Or have our gracious brains simply erased a few unpleasant details from the memory album called "The good old days" from our mental hard drive? For example, the physically palpable boredom, the cigarette smoke in the beastly cramped vacation car, mullets and perms on everyone's heads, stuffy paneled party basements, pet hedgehogs and only two TV channels with closing time.
In his new book, Oliver Kalkofe opens up his boomer heart and his personal photo albums. He takes us on a journey back in time to his own youth and asks himself on behalf of all baby boomers: Was there really more tinsel in the past? What does the past have to do with the present - and is it even possible to understand the present without the past? Kalkofe analyzes the supposedly golden boomer times with proven drastic comedy and sophisticated wordplay. In doing so, he puts himself and an entire generation in front of the mirror: were the idiots back then really any smarter than they are today? Are we just drinking the 70s, 80s and the years around them - or were we lucky enough to grow up in the best decades of all?

Oliver Kalkofe started his career with FRÜHSTYXRADIO before switching to television in the mid-nineties. His media satire KALKOFES MATTSCHEIBE made him one of Germany's best-known comedians and was awarded the Grimme Prize and the German Comedy Prize, among others. In the cinema, he thrilled audiences with Bastian Pastewka in the Edgar Wallace parodies DER WIXXER and NEUES VOM WIXXER, and since 2013 he has been presenting 'Die schlechtesten Filme aller Zeiten' (The worst films of all time) with Peter Rütten in the cult show #SchleFaZ. Together with Oliver Welke, he has been on the currently most successful ARD podcast KALK & WELK - DIE FABELHAFTEN BOOMER-BOYS every week since 2022. He is a regular guest on the NDR satire program eXTRA 3 and in summer 2024 his new comedy panel show FAKING BAD - BESSER ALS DIE WAHRHEIT started on ARD.
