The plot is based on a Qiang myth, the legend of Ran Bi Wa. Its hero is a monkey who grew up with humans. Because he is supposed to bring fire to the people of the Holy Mountain, he sets off on this dangerous journey together with a wolf as his companion. He passes dangerous tests, captures the fire and experiences the transformation into a human and his companion into a dog.
The animated film for children combines traditional ink painting with modern techniques such as collage and experimental imagery. It celebrated its world premiere at the Berlinale in February 2025 in the Berlinale Generation Kplus section.
