The sixth sense knows what it wants: the AdieuTristessetival 2026

"Proprioception" describes the unconscious perception of posture, muscle tension and movement in space. According to KI, terms such as intuition, gut feeling and extrasensory perception can also be linked to the sixth sense. On July 17 and 18, the area on and around the old water reservoir between Altenmünster and Onolzheim will combine these attributes under the synonym AdieuTristessetival and unite posture, dance frenzy and euphoria in magical festival hours.

On Friday, Fat Cheeks from Gimbsheim in Rheinhessen will provide an extra portion of movement in the room. Big cheeks at their best take the term "brass band music" to another level - far removed from mental guidelines and traditions, this band shows what you can get out of brass instruments ! With songs by Peter Fox, Moop Mama and LaBrassbanda, the combo of rapper, trumpet, two saxophones, tenor horn, tuba and drums shows what a modern brass band can do! Songs from the rap, urban and party scene are reinterpreted with a great deal of creativity and a certain amount of irony.

Falschgeld from Munich intuitively follow up with dirty indie pop rock. German lyrics, stylistically somewhere between TonSteineScherben and the early Strokes, Wanda and AnnenMayKantereit. The punky attitude of the four pop louts, who have been making music together since they were children and deliver a correspondingly powerful performance, contrasts with the profound and smart lyrics of frontman Jona Volkmann (who is now also known to many from the movies, most recently seen in Sönke Wortmann's "Der Spitzname"). After their sensational debut album "Menschen wie wir" (produced by Franz Ferdinand guitarist Nick McCarthy), the band is currently working with producer luminary Moses Schneider (AnnenMayKantereit, Beatsteaks, K.I.Z, Tocotronic ... ) on their second longplayer "Flügge werden", which is also about exactly that: growing up in troubled times while the world seems to be falling apart at the seams.

Has anyone called for attitude here? Well then the Dead Pioneers from Colorado are shouting it back with a vengeance. Created as a dynamic extension of singer Gregg Deal's performance art, the band's music blends seamlessly with critical cultural critique. Rooted in the same themes of identity and resistance that inform his visual work, the band's sound serves as a powerful platform to address the complexity of indigenous experiences. Deal uses the raw energy of punk and alternative influences to challenge common narratives, using lyrics that are thought-provoking and emotionally evocative. Just as his performance art addresses the consequences of colonization and systematic marginalization, Dead Pioneers - rounded out by Josh Rivera and Abe Brennan on guitars, bassist Lee Tesche (Algiers) and drummer Shane Zweygardt - invites the audience into an immediate dialogue about survival, resilience and reclaiming one's voice.

After this plank, we reflect and listen to our gut feeling at the beginning on Saturday. ARMANO, singer of the Bamberg bands Oporto and The See See Riders, has been touring the country with his solo project since 2021. With a powerful voice and adept fingerpicking, the songwriter moves stylistically somewhere between country, blues and Americana. After three EPs and countless concerts in Germany, Belgium, Austria and Switzerland, his first full-length album I HATE TO LEAVE will be released in 2026. Together with Andreas Arneth on bass and Jens Kussmann on drums, he brings the songs to the stage in an energetic trio line-up.

After Bauchgefühle, we go for abdominal muscle tension and False Lefty. The duo, consisting of drummer Veva (Austria), who plays three drums standing up, and singer Thomas (Great Britain), who strings his guitar with only three strings, turns the world of punk on its head. It breaks with perfectionism, reduces itself from the superfluous, leaves out the unimportant and relies on a minimalism that awakens the hope that so little is needed to make good music after all. Since the band's formation in the fall of 2022, False Lefty have played headlining shows at festivals such as Bochum Total, Burg Herzberg Festival, Orange Blossom Special and Traumzeit Festival, as well as supporting Public Image Ltd, Fortuna Ehrenfeld, The Lathums, SONS, Cash Savage and the last Drinks and many others.

At the end of the festival, Engin from Mannheim will deliver extrasensory perceptual experiences. Drifting psychedelia and fuzzy guitars, intricate rhythms and a light-footed vibe, the vocals are urgent and full of soul. Songs in which life sometimes tastes stale, but mostly bitter, sweet and spicy. And all this in a detailed and highly catchy sound that can easily be described as German-Turkish indie rock. And which embraces pop, jazz and psychedelia extremely cleverly and with a grand gesture. Raw, hypnotic and always danceable, Engin tell of everything that life reveals. Beauty and dirt, madness and adventure, loneliness and euphoria. The band's sound is fed by a wild mix of 70s Anadolu rock combined with a sincere love of pop culture, from Pink Floyd to Altın Gün and The War On Drugs. As a trio that is also thrilling live, they are now driven to combine different influences with great curiosity to create their very own style.

Proprioception or ProAdieuTristessetival: attitude, dance frenzy, euphoria - a peaceful, friendly and colorful festival for everyone. Meet, gossip, party and celebrate the sixth sense in all its forms - there's plenty of music and culinary delights on offer.

Parking spaces at Altenmünster cemetery will be signposted.

Admission on Friday will be at 5.00 pm, on Saturday the gates will open at 4.00 pm. Free admission for children and young people up to and including the age of 16.
