Adventsvesper des Dresdner Kreuzchors mit Vivaldis "Gloria"

Let yourself be enchanted by an over 650-year-old tradition: on Saturday, November 28, 2026, at 5:00 pm, the Dresden Kreuzchor invites you to a festive Advent Vespers in the venerable Kreuzkirche. Experience a program that combines the deeply rooted history of this unique series with the brilliant music of Georg Philipp Telemann.

The vespers of the Kreuzkirche are a living legend and have been attracting visitors from all over the world for over six centuries. The centerpiece is Telemann's cantata "Machet die Tore weit" (TWV 1:1074). The work, intended for the 1st Advent, opens the "Sicilian Vintage", which Telemann once composed for the court of Saxe-Eisenach. The movements in a swaying siciliana rhythm and the use of two obbligato oboes are characteristic. Together with soloists and the Dresden Philharmonic Chamber Orchestra, the Kreuzchor brings this baroque splendor to life in an incomparable atmosphere.
