Whether on social media, online shopping or quick messenger chats - digital spaces have long been part of our everyday lives. They make many things easier, but also harbor risks: Companies often know more about us than we realize, passwords are easy to crack, private pictures can fall into the wrong hands.
Unfortunately, women and female readers in particular quickly become the target of hate, attacks and insults.

But you are not at the mercy of this! With the right strategies, you can protect yourself and your children. This is exactly what our digital self-defense course at Bürgerhaus Wilhelmsburg is all about: we will give you a day of practical tips, legal information and plenty of room for discussion.

The program is divided into two parts:
Part 1 - Data protection & media use
Alina Schömig (employee in the office of the Hamburg Data Protection Commissioner
in the area of data protection competence promotion and media education) will show you how to keep control of your data:
- How do I choose really secure passwords?
- (Children's) photos online - should I post them or not?
- What rights do I have when companies store my data?
- Cookies - harmless or risky?

Part 2 - Dealing with hate online
In the second part, Juliane Chakrabarti (ichbinhier e. V.) talks to you about how you can react confidently to attacks and insults:
- What should I do if I am insulted, threatened or defamed online?
- What options do I have to defend myself?
- When is it worth filing a complaint - and who will support me?
