A synthesis of Arabic and German Christmas carols

This concert evening is based on Christmas carols from two different cultures: German and Arabic.

The composer Saad Thamir takes these traditional melodies as his source material, which he reworks and arranges into new musical pieces.

Based on his own compositional work, Thamir succeeds in treating the songs of both cultures according to their respective musical systems - the Western harmony system and the Arabic adjnas system. He uses both Western and Arabic instruments and improvisations, as well as the languages German and Arabic.

In artful arrangements, the musical traditions of both cultures are woven into a harmonious unity without losing their individual characteristics. The material is not robbed of its cultural depth, but rather transformed into a new sound language that offers room for recognition and discovery - regardless of the listener's cultural background.

This extraordinary concert program presents the festive atmosphere of Christmas in a completely new sound: traditional melodies, modern improvisations and the sound of Western and Oriental instruments merge into a fascinating world of sound.
