Alexander Hacke, born in Berlin in 1965, is a musician, producer and composer. He played in influential underground bands and collaborated with Crime & the City Solution and Gianna Nannini, among others. In 1980, at the age of 14, he became a member of Einstürzende Neubauten. As a producer and composer, he was responsible for theater, documentary and feature film music ("Crossing the Bridge", "Gegen die Wand"). He has been working on musical compositions with his wife Danielle de Picciotto since 2001.

At the Volksbad, Alexander Hacke will read from his book "Krach. Distorted Memories", the biography of an exceptional artist between the Berlin underground and global success.

Content: Alexander Hacke is obsessed with classical music from an early age, but then prefers to drop out of school and hang out in the West Berlin underground scene among punks, squatters and bon vivants. After his first music projects under the pseudonym Alexander von Borsig, he became a member of the recently founded Einstürzende Neubauten in 1980.

While the Neubauten became a groundbreaking and extremely successful band, Hacke not only experimented with all kinds of stimulants, but also continued to develop his music tirelessly: be it together with his partner Christiane F., as an internationally successful solo artist, as a guitarist on Gianna Nannini's album Dispetto, as a film composer for Fatih Akin or together with his wife, the artist Danielle de Picciotto, with whom he has been touring the world since 2010.

"Krach" is a dazzling testimony to the wild West Berlin before the fall of the Berlin Wall, the story of the rise of the Einstürzende Neubauten and a rousing account of the life of a jack-of-all-trades all in one. For this revised and expanded new edition, Hacke adds the last ten years to his memoirs, first published in 2015, and takes stock of his unique artist biography between avant-garde art, film music and modern nomadism.
