Christa Wolf, a world-class author, was a resolute citizen of the GDR - closely connected to the country in which she wrote, for which she fought, to which she doubted, to which she consciously remained loyal. Everyday life and big questions, the personal and the political, myth and history: Christa Wolf transformed these dimensions of existence into a space of possibility for poetry. As she withstood the contradictions of society as well as her own, she became a moral authority for many. At the same time, her texts are also memories of a lost country. This evening of theater thus combines a poet's life with a chronicle of the GDR.
The production is a visually powerful, kaleidoscopic, iridescent and musical mosaic of scenes from Christa Wolf's texts and fragments of reality from the history of the GDR. It is about dreams, guilt, utopias, literature, love, politics, illness, pain, friendship, depression, GDR stars and shows, dancing, drinking and hope.
