Clothing accompanies us every day - often as a matter of course. But behind every shirt and every pair of jeans is a high consumption of water, energy and chemicals. From the cultivation of the fibers to production and transport to washing at home, a variety of burdens are placed on the environment and resources. At the same time, around 92 million tons of textiles end up in the bin every year - many of which are barely worn.
This is made possible by a system that is designed for extremely fast production and low prices. In what is known as (ultra) fast fashion, thousands of new items appear on online platforms every day. Companies such as SHEIN or Temu bring trends from the screen to the closet in record time and ensure that clothes are bought and discarded just as quickly.
We want to show that there is another way: clothes can stay with you for a long time if you repair, adapt or creatively design them. This is exactly what our upcycling workshop is all about.
Do you have an item of clothing in your wardrobe that doesn't fit you properly (anymore) or that you would like to change? Then come along and bring it with you - whether it's a pair of trousers, dress, shirt or jacket. With two sewing machines on site and the support of experienced professionals, you can adjust, alter or repair your clothes.
If you prefer to get creative, you can also completely redesign your clothes: with textile dyes, buttons and other materials, you can give your piece an individual look. We also have fabric remnants on site that you can use to sew a toiletry bag, for example.
