Anna Galtschenko & Selah Quartet

The Selah Quartet around vocalist Anna Galtschenko moves between composed structure and free improvisation, opening up new sonic spaces in the process. Inspired by contemporary jazz, Galtschenko uses her voice not as a carrier of language, but as a pure instrument - sensitive, versatile and with great expressiveness.

She is accompanied by Alex Rosendahl (double bass), Max Hagen (piano) and Simon Kuhn (drums), who set strong accents in both composed passages and solo moments. Guest Vincent Pinn on trumpet and flugelhorn expands the sound spectrum and enters into a subtle dialog with Anna Galchenko's voice.

The repertoire combines Galtschenko's own compositions with works by Kenny Wheeler, Carlos Aguirre and Andrés Beeuswaert, among others. Musically influenced by artists such as Richie Beirach, Norma Winstone, Maria João and Tatjana Parra, it combines the chamber music sound of ECM jazz with Latin American-influenced vocals.
