Theater director Markus Dentler performs "Anne-Marie the Beauty" by Yasmina Reza, the play that is currently causing a sensation across Germany, from Berlin to Munich.

In her 2020 play "Anne-Marie the Beauty", Yasmina Reza paints the portrait of an ageing actress in the Parisian suburbs and gives a voice to an "almost diva", the underappreciated minor actress and eternal supporting role, away from the glamor of the big stars. Reza unerringly puts her finger in the wound between pretension and reality, appearance and reality, desire and ability, stage and floral wallpaper. Anne-Marie Mille takes stock of her life in an entertaining and whimsical way, oscillating between observations with bite and a hint of subtle irony and reveries filled with nostalgic longing. The work reflects the invisible abysses of a life on stage. The production is atmospheric, lively with a charming breeze of French flair. On the occasion of the 40th season of Theater Die Komödianten, theater director Markus Dentler presents a magnificent new solo and embodies the female role, which the author explicitly requested should always be played by a man, in a scenic installation by Isaak Dentler, who explores the facets of Theater Die Komödianten as a venue in a new way. An intense experience - even closer than a conventional visit to the theater!
