In the organizer's words:

2026 will be politically exciting: we are electing a new Lord Mayor and both candidates will be our guests in the Salon!

An opportunity to get to know them directly, hear their positions and talk to each other. Of course, we will also ask them about the important topics that have occupied us in the Salon over the last two years: Promoting young culture, retiring loaded names, redesigning the Pferdemarkt, advancing the bid to become Capital of Culture, "Playing soccer instead of letting it be played?" Above all: more democracy and cohesion in our city.

That's why we look back at the highlights of the last two years, sing our favorite songs and look ahead.

In 2025, we're also talking about our own future: the Kulturetage will be 40 years old and of course we want to celebrate that! However, anniversaries are not just a reason to toast, but also an opportunity to look ahead. What role do we want to play in the coming years, what moves urban society and what answers will we provide together?

This raises many questions: Is it a culture war or are we experiencing more of a clash of uncultures? How do we deal with the AfD's attacks on socioculture? Are Oldenburg's museums really becoming "third places"? What can the cultural summer look like in the future? What does a vibrant city center actually mean and how do we create it? And perhaps there are also topics and questions from you that we should take up and discuss with the candidates. Feel free to write to us!
