Misunderstandings and missed opportunities: in Nino Rota's I due timidi (1950) and Darius Milhaud's Le Pauvre Matelot (1927), the protagonists ruin their own happiness. In both operas, the end seems inevitable - but what does that mean? Free will, chance or fate?

As part of the 20-year collaboration with the Munich Radio Orchestra, director Ingo Kerkhof (winner of the German Theater Prize DER FAUST 2024) combines the two one-act operas in an evening of music theatre full of humor and melancholy.
