The rise of the Hohenzollerns to kingship in Prussia took place in Franconia. Cadolzburg Castle, Neustadt/Aisch and the cathedral in Heilsbronn bear witness to this. One of the Franconian collateral lines is the Margraviate of Brandenburg-Bayreuth. Plassenburg Castle in Kulmbach was the residence until 1604. In Bayreuth, the buildings of Margravine Wilhelmine are a delight. Fantaisie Castle in Donndorf, the rock garden of Sanspareil and the burial place in Himmelkron complete the route.
