The Weimar Republic is a fascinating chapter in German history - as the first German democracy, it laid the central foundations for our society today. The exhibition impressively shows that democracy cannot be taken for granted, but must be fought for and protected again and again.
A multimedia exhibition concept invites you to discover:
🎥 S hort films with a modern narrative style that convey key topics in an understandable way and make references to the present day
📍 16 themed stations that shed light on the politics, culture, economy and society of the years 1918-1933
Questions to which the exhibition provides answers:
What led to the end of the empire and the founding of the republic?
Why was the Weimar Constitution considered the most progressive in the world?
What is the myth of the "Golden Twenties"?
Who contributed to the destruction of the Republic?
Contemporary photographs, posters and drawings bring the challenges and debates of the time to life and make them tangible.
