Ausstellung: Über das Sichtbare

The Department of Fine Arts of the Munich Adult Education Center is showing the exhibition "Über das Sichtbare" (Beyond the Visible) in the Aspekte Galerie.

The exhibition opens up a space between instruction and freedom, experience and development, teaching and art. Gloria Gans and Wolfgang Müller-Jakob have been shaping the studios at Frohschammerstraße 14 for many years. In addition to their own active artistic work, both offer courses and open up spaces for their students in which individual vision and personal expression can grow.

Wolfgang Müller-Jakob's classes focus on composition: how does a vivid, expressive image emerge from an idea? From figurative arrangements, exciting paintings develop that mediate between observation and imagination. Regardless of whether based on a photo, sketch or inner image, the focus is always on the examination of form, color and contrast and leads to a conscious, free approach to the painting process.

Gloria Gans invites her participants to understand the world of oil painting as an open field. Through theoretical and practical studies, she teaches the basics of color theory and composition while encouraging experimentation. Traditional techniques meet free interpretation, and this interplay creates a lively dialog with the medium itself.

The exhibition shows works by the two lecturers as well as the course participants and offers a variety of artistic approaches. The exciting juxtaposition of course directors and participants opens up the artistic perspective of both sides and also provides an insight into the individual work of the artists.
