Ausstellungseröffnung: Gut. Katholisch. Queer

In the organizer's words:

Photographer Martin Niekämper has created an impressive series of portraits with members of #OutInChurch.
The photographs show members of #OutInChurch in a church interior in close-up shots or from a great distance. The images address the tensions that queer people experience in the church and at the same time highlight the dignity of the people. A metaphorical visual language opens up a double perspective for the viewer: How do the queer people experience themselves? And how do they see themselves as part of the Catholic Church?

The exhibition will be opened by the Chairwoman of the Düsseldorf Catholic Council Natalie Schneider and the City Dean Frank Heidkamp.
The artist Martin Niekämper and activists from #OutInChruch will be present and introduce the exhibition.
Singer-songwriter Nicolai Burchartz will perform songs from his new album "Wir Wunder - trans* Geschichten auf die Bühne" at the opening. Further information about Nicolai Burchartz: www.nicolai-burchartz.de
