Avatar from Gothenburg have been exploring the dark soul of alternative and melodic death metal for over 20 years with consistent success. With their last album to date, "Dance Devil Dance", released in 2023, they not only taught the devil to dance, but also their fans worldwide. Of course, they also remained true to their own idiosyncrasies when it came to dancing, combining proggy moments with breaks, as we have come to appreciate from System Of A Down or Rage Against The Machine, soldering groove metal and hard rock with interesting mathcore borrowings and what not, in short, celebrating a mix of genres that sounded and sounds far more entertaining at every moment than it reads here. They have been working on their 10th studio album since January, which is rumored to be about dreams and their meanings. And according to Avatar frontman Johannes Eckerström, this is expressed musically "in the most rhythmically intricate and at the same time melodically catchiest songs of our entire career". So, as always with Avatar, you can be very excited.
On this year's tour, they will be accompanied by New Zealand groove metal heads Alien Weaponry. The opening act is ABAGAS from Norway and - uh old Swede? - we think they're awesome! Deathjazz with saxophone? Our first time and we like it.
