Over the past 30 years, internationally acclaimed bassist, singer and composer Avishai Cohen has emerged as one of the most influential figures in contemporary jazz - a true musical icon whose work can hold its own alongside some of the most legendary names in the genre and beyond. Cohen's original compositions and arrangements reflect an expansive musical universe in which different traditions, cultures, languages and styles merge. His music seamlessly blends Hebrew and Ladino folklore with vibrant, original contemporary jazz, creating a sound that is both deeply rooted and innovative. Today, he is celebrated as a composer and musical innovator without boundaries. True to his style, Cohen continues his tradition of nurturing and discovering emerging talent in Ludwigshafen, performing with the outstanding young musicians Itay Simhovich (piano) and Eviatar Slivnik (drums).
