„Bach-Instrumente“

From the organ, clavichord, oboe d'amore and trumpet to the synthesizer - many instruments played an important role in Johann Sebastian Bach's work and its reception. A tour specially developed for the Bach Festival takes visitors on an app tour of instruments in the newly designed Musical Instruments exhibition at the Deutsches Museum.

You can discover original instruments from Johann Sebastian Bach's time, but also, for example, the role his music played in the introduction of the synthesizer. You can also find out what trumpets and clarinets were like in Bach's time, what the horns of Bach's time looked like and what the differences were between the clavichord, harpsichord and fortepiano.

The app tour also allows visitors to listen to some of the instruments and take a virtual look at instruments in the depot, such as the first replica of the so-called Berlin Bach harpsichord, which was made for the Deutsches Museum.

Loan instruments are available for the tour in the Musical Instruments exhibition.
