Back To The Roots: Conrad Schwenke Trio + GSQ

The celebrations for the 50th anniversary of the Musicians' Initiative Bremen (MIB) are entering the next round. At the end of the year, the MIB returns to the place where it all began with a variety of events: The Bremen Quarter. Under the title "Back To The Roots", a representative cross-section of Bremen's jazz scene will be presented at eight venues. The 50-year history of the initiative has always been characterized by changing venues - some have disappeared, others have emerged. As one of the few constants, we have the honor of opening the series with a double concert at the Bürgerhaus Weserterrassen!

The Conrad Schwenke Trio will open the evening at 8 pm: the pianist's compositions combine harmonic adventures and powerful unison parts with lyrical and graceful melodies. The trio takes its audience on a journey through driving rhythms and sensitive ballads. Full of joyful playing, they create an exciting sound that is discharged in virtuoso solos. Line-up: Conrad Schwenke (piano), Michael Bohn (bass), Julian Nicolaus (drums).

GSQ follows at 9 pm: the four accomplished instrumentalists play acoustic, modern jazz - dynamic, exciting, virtuosic and communicative. With numerous club and festival appearances since 1989, GSQ is one of the most traditional bands on the Bremen jazz scene. For jazz connoisseurs and newcomers alike, the band opens up its own sound universe of sophisticated arrangements, compositional class and vital improvisation. Line-up: Günther Späth (bass), Eckhard Petri (saxophone), Jens Schöwing (pinao), Heinrich Hock (drums).

A special highlight of the evening: with Uli Beckerhoff (trumpet) and Ed Kröger (trombone), two founding members of the musicians' initiative and veterans of the Bremen jazz scene will be musically involved.
