A chanson, said Edith Piaf, is a whole play in 3 minutes. And she was right! The French chanson celebrates the high art of storytelling like no other musical genre. Drama, fate, longing, humor, passion, everything is there, all facets of life.

Elling & Band has stood for authentic French chanson at the highest level for 12 years. Within one season, the quartet presents its own concert series in the TONALi SAAL consisting of at least 8 different programs, theme evenings and artist portraits. Letters, anecdotes and diaries of famous chanson composers and performers complement the musical enjoyment and put the songs back into the context of their creation. Cross-references become tangible. The musical experience gains depth and intensity.
