Barbara Schmitz-Becker - MY INNER NATURE

Barbara Schmitz-Becker is fascinated by the beauty of the small, the inconspicuous and the interplay of processes in nature. She researches fungi, mosses, lichens and microorganisms down to the smallest scientific detail. This knowledge forms the basis of her spatial drawings, objects and installations. In the studio, she creates bodies and structures from a wide variety of materials, such as wire, paper or clay. From these, the artist creates formations that seem alive and essential. Her work shows a very individual, philosophical reference to nature and yet creates something new and unique. With her elaborate presentations, she always refers to the existing environment, playing with and in the space; everything seems to have grown naturally, light and fragile - also because every detail, element, every line has been very deliberately placed.
