This course is aimed at anyone who wants to screen print their ideas on paper or textiles and has little or no experience. During the course, you will learn about the entire printing process. The individual work steps are explained and carried out by everyone themselves. The maximum number of participants is 8, the courses take place 24 hours in advance if there are 5 or more registrations.
Introduction to screen printing
The workshop begins with a brief introduction to screen printing and the Diazzo Press Munich studio. You will be introduced to the equipment that will be used throughout the day, as well as the basic theory behind the process. You will be able to prepare and custom coat your own screen to use for your own print series later in the day.
Template creation
You will be taught the various digital and analog processes required to turn your own image into a usable screen print film. Don't worry if you're not comfortable with Photoshop or computers - we'll go through the techniques slowly and make sure everyone understands the theoretical basics.
Exposure
This is where the screen printing film is exposed onto the coated screen to create the stencil that will be used to print in the afternoon. You will be familiarized with how our exposure device works and how to develop the screens.
Printing
Once all the preparations have been completed, it's time to print! You will learn how to set up your screen on a printing table and important printing techniques. Then you can make your own small series of single-color prints.
