Baukulturgespräch: Bezahlbar bauen in Osnabrück – wie kann das gelingen?

Your own living space is more than just four walls: it is an architectural meeting place, a social anchor of society - and should be affordable for everyone. In view of the continuing housing shortage, the question of affordable housing and building is becoming a central issue. The Verein für Baukultur Osnabrück therefore invites you to a discussion on building culture on October 29, 2025 at 6 pm in the Felix-Nussbaum-Haus. The association has been organizing the Baukultur Talks as a lecture and discussion format since 2018; in 2025, the focus will be on housing.

To kick off the evening, Dr. Stephan Zech, 1st Chairman of the Association for Building Culture Osnabrück, will outline realistic paths to greater affordability in a keynote speech. The focus will be on changing floor plans, exploiting potential savings and a clear distinction between mandatory and optional components. This should make it clear where standards are mandatory - and where deliberate omission brings quality and costs into a better relationship. Afterwards, regional representatives from administration and the housing industry will discuss how affordable construction in Osnabrück can succeed together in order to create urgently needed living space. On the podium will be Thimo Weitemeier, City Planning Officer of the City of Osnabrück, Carolin Lauhoff, Stephanswerk Wohnungsbaugesellschaft and Thomas Trendelkamp from BPD Immobilienentwicklung.

Admission to the event is free. Registration is not necessary. Further training hours can be submitted to the Lower Saxony Chamber of Architects for the Building Culture Talks. A certificate of attendance will be handed out on the evening of the event.
