Be Your Own Festival Queen

In the organizer's words:

The ultimate highlight of every Filipino fiesta is the election and crowning of the 'Festival Queen'. This is also a must at the fiesta of "Sincerely Yours, the Philippines". No stereotypical beauty standards, not the trained grace or the necessary money are the criteria for the election here, but only the most extravagant costume. And everyone can make one together on the day of the fiesta in a workshop led by artists Leeroy New and Arvie Santos at the Mousonturm. Leeroy and Arvie specialize in transforming everyday objects, found objects or plastic waste into fantastic sculptures and crazy, wearable pieces.

Many fiestas in the Philippines are dedicated to a fruit or other food. At the Mousonturm, too, the wide field of food and indulgence will be the source of inspiration for the Queen's costume. Whether sweet, sour, spicy, sticky or crispy, whether straight from the tree or the field, cooked at home or industrially produced, all flavors, textures, aggregate states and references are allowed.

At the end of the workshop, choreographer Ea Torrado will give tips and tricks for the right steps and poses for presenting yourself as the festival queen in front of the jury in a last-minute training session. So that in the end it says: You are the queen!
