Ludwig van Beethoven: Violin Concerto in D major op. 61
Antonín Dvořák: Symphony No. 8 in G major op. 88

"The chemistry between conductor and musicians is so good that Miguel Sepúlveda takes the Darmstadt orchestra to a new level", wrote the Allgemeine Zeitung at the end of 2024 after the young Portuguese conductor's debut concert. Now the conductor, who is on his way to conquering the music world, will take over one of the very important dates of the Deutsche Philharmonie Merck: The New Year's benefit concert. On the program: one of the most important violin concertos of all time, it is Beethoven's only contribution to this genre and one that is so stylistically influential. And Dvořák's Eighth Symphony, another classic, albeit from the Romantic period. Great works for a festive occasion.
Anne Luisa Kramb, the soloist in the Beethoven violin concerto, plays an instrument by Antonio Stradivari: the "Paganini" from 1724 - about which the young violinist says: "The violin actually plays all by itself, I don't have to do anything else."
