The jazzCollegen from Bremen are a special jazz experience: with their unusual line-up of flugelhornist Henning Thomas and the accomplished vibraphonist Boyke Dettmers, who has already played with jazz greats such as Herb Geller and attracted attention with his fine dynamics and varied improvisations; keyboardist Kai Thomsen, Lennart Breternitz on bass and drummer Lutz Schwetmann, the jazzCollegen create a warm, colorful sound that is immediately catchy. The velvety flugelhorn lends the melodies a lyrical, almost vocal quality, while the shimmering vibraphone with its floating sounds unfolds a magic all of its own.
The band skillfully combines modern jazz, Latin jazz and timeless classics - sometimes elegantly swinging, sometimes rousing with a Latin feel, sometimes drivingly groovy. With great joy of playing and a fine feeling for sound colors, the jazzCollegen create an atmosphere that inspires both jazz connoisseurs and curious discoverers.
