Movement, mobility, traffic: what sounds technical at first glance is highly subjective and emotional, as it touches on central areas of our living and working conditions.
People spend a lifetime moving around the city, going through a mobility career from baby carriages to walking frames. Space is limited, and more and more people have to share it.
And they all have different needs and different wishes when it comes to transportation planning.
The special exhibition uses the example of the commuter capital Frankfurt to show the rapid development of mobility culture up to the present day, but is also dedicated to cultural aspects of mobility. In constant interaction with the city, society and architecture, it explores the associated ideas. It is about no less a question than what kind of mobility culture we want to live in.
What challenges does urban society have to face today and what visions are associated with this? Is Frankfurt on the way to becoming a sustainable, safe, healthy and vibrant city that meets a variety of mobility needs?
