Beyond Dragons is a musically breathtaking international trio with Angelika Niescier, Tomeika Reid and Eliza Salem.

Every concert is a wild ride, a sonic frenzy: explosive, bold and dense, delicate and transparent chamber music, always full of energy and excitement.

Compositions by saxophonist Angelika Niescier are played, whose complexity, originality and organic structure are unmistakable. Based on these pieces, the three women improvise with gripping intensity, individuality and collective determination.

Tomeka Reid (Chicago) is a cellist and composer and one of the driving artistic forces on the American jazz scene. The multi-award-winning musician works with Roscoe Mitchell, Craig Taborn, Myra Melford, Anthony Braxton, Nicole Mitchell, Mike Reed and Mary Halvorson, among others.

Eliza Salem (New York City) is a sought-after, up-and-coming drummer, educator and composer. She has toured nationally and internationally several times, including with Marta Sánchez, Caroline Davis and Max Johnson. In 2024, she was named a winner of the Next Jazz Legacy program - a pioneering funding program that aims to create a more inclusive future for previously underrepresented artists in jazz and improvised music.

Angelika Niescier (Germany) is always on the lookout for new musical adventures. The alto saxophonist is one of the most prominent voices on the current European jazz scene. She maintains close musical ties with important and independent personalities on the US scene and is one of the musicians who are developing European jazz and positioning it internationally. The multi-award-winning musician has been described by BR Klassik as "breathtakingly spirited and virtuosic". She has worked with Tyshawn Sorey, Nasheet Waits, Aki Takase, Sylvie Courvoisier, Ernie Watts, Alexander Hawkins and Mabe Fratti, among others.
