"Why we are more than just 'non-religious' - Values. Culture. Identity in an ideologically plural society" is the title of the lecture by Lars Habermann from gbs-Bodensee. On September 11, 2025, he will be coming to the Seidlvilla in Munich at the invitation of the Bund für Geistesfreiheit München.
The non-denominational majority of people today live their lives without church or religious guidelines. However, this way of life is often only described negatively as "non-denominational". But what if we understand secularity as an independent, value-based identity?
The lecture shows that people without religious affiliation by no means live in a "vacuum" in terms of worldview, but have an ethical foundation based on reason, science and humanism. A plea for positive self-determination and recognition of secularism as an alternative to religiosity that should be treated equally.
Lars Habermann calls on "non-religious" people to position themselves clearly and positively in terms of their ideology. Because only those who profess their faith are visible. And only those who are visible can take responsibility and help shape society.
The event is aimed at all those who do not feel sufficiently represented in the current social order and are looking for a positive, self-confident definition of their values, identity and culture.
