In the organizer's words:

Trust is the foundation of human relationships and the invisible currency of our democratic society. While facial expressions, gestures and personal closeness ensure trust in face-to-face encounters, interaction in the digital world is characterized by algorithms, platforms and AI systems.

How is trust changing in an increasingly digital world? What happens when deepfakes manipulate our perception, fake news jeopardizes democratic processes and artificial intelligence finds its way into central areas of life such as education or justice? When is trust justified - and when is it perhaps even dangerous?

These and other questions are at the heart of the bidt Conference 2025 entitled "Echt? Trust in the digital transformation".

The varied program offers a wide range of thematic sessions, interactive formats and high-profile guests from science, politics, business and civil society, including

• Bavarian Minister of State for Science and the Arts, Markus Blume, MdL
• Prof. Dr. Dr. h.c. Julian Nida-Rümelin, Member of the bidt Board of Directors and Professor Emeritus of Philosophy and Political Theory at LMU Munich
• Dr. Aljoscha Burchardt, Principal Researcher, Research Fellow and Deputy Site Spokesperson of the German Research Center for Artificial Intelligence (DFKI)
• Dirk von Gehlen, Director Think Tank at the SZ Institute of the Süddeutsche Zeitung, journalist and author.

We will also present current research results from bidt projects and discuss them with experts and the audience.
