Matthias Schwarz wants to get to know the world behind the headlines. So he sets off on a bike tour that will take him over 20,000 km to Iran, to his best friend's wedding, and back again. It is his greatest adventure and the fulfillment of a lifelong dream.

World events that Matthias otherwise only knows from the news are presented to him in reality on his journey. In many countries, he meets people from Ukraine who have fled the war. In Iran, he experiences the protests following the death of Jina Mahsa Amini at first hand. However, the real spice of this journey for Matthias is the encounters with the people in 18 countries, their stories and their hospitality.

"Persian Wine" is an invitation to curiosity, cosmopolitanism and a thirst for adventure.
