Kevin Gibbard and Sophie Landers create a contemporary form of gothic post-punk sound with songs that combine catchy hooks, driving tribal drums and euphoric guitar sounds. Live performances by the London-based trio, who are joined on stage by bassist Daniel Armstrong, resemble a ritual: relentless, atmospheric and charged with a mixture of menace and euphoria. With a sound that is both brutal and beautiful, Black Doldrums have carved out their own place in the shadows of the genre.

Following the success of their debut album "Dead Awake" on the Fuzz Club Records label in 2022 and the positive response in mainstream media such as Uncut, Rolling Stone and Sonic Seducer, the band released their second album "In Limerence" in October 2024. Described by Louder Than War as "lush but icy soundscapes that build with bursts of energy before dissolving and plunging into an ethereal depth", "In Limerence" proves to be the album that pushes Black Doldrums further into the depths of their atmospheric post-punk. Black Doldrums prove their craftsmanship by effortlessly creating a mesmerizing and disorienting soundscape that leaves a lasting, indelible impression on all who venture in.
