In the organizer's words:

Dance / Performance

'subjoyride' invites the audience to enter into a physical dialog with the poetic work of the German Dadaist Baroness Elsa von Freytag-Loringhoven (1874-1927) through a series of performative acts.

In their new production, Berlin choreographer and performer Boglárka Börcsök and filmmaker and artist Andreas Bolm continue their joint artistic exploration of the personal, emotional and historical - venturing into the grotesque and marginalized. Using voice, gestures, music and physical presence, the duo explore the Baroness's multi-layered personality and eccentric work, which combines elements of poetry, performance and sculpture - a scatological cosmos that oscillates between the abject and the grotesque.

They playfully combine the visceral poetics of the Baroness with a forensic discourse: they speculate on the actual authorship of the famous ready-mades Fountain - the upside-down urinal traditionally attributed to Marcel Duchamp, but now increasingly associated with the Baroness.

'subjoyride' thus becomes a performative journey through the mechanisms of the hegemonic art canon - and reveals how cultural and social structures are perpetuated through canonization and canalization.
