BOOKS & BODIES: ORTE DES WIDERSTANDS

In the organizer's words:

Books & Bodies: Places of resistance

As long as there have been books, there have been people who want to control which books we read. Today, we are experiencing a renewed wave of book bans in many places, fueled by heated debates about which books should be accessible. At the same time, we are witnessing a creeping withdrawal of bodily rights - because certain books and bodies were and are still considered transgressive, even dangerous.

Reading can be an act of resistance - just like dancing.

Books & Bodies explores the parallels between stories, bodies and dance as powerful means of challenging social assumptions, claiming presence and understanding artistic creation as forms of resistance. Through music, movement and words, the piece reveals what lies beneath our skin, gives voice to unheard voices and celebrates the wisdom and resilience of artists with disabilities.

The performances on November 8 and 9 will take place with additional audio description for blind and visually impaired visitors. Please register at 0251 59 09 210 or hickert@stadt-muenster.de.

We also offer interpretation into German sign language on October 31 and November 9.
